Canada’s Foreign Intelligence Needs: A Roundtable Discussion

CIPS wishes to announce the launch of its National Security Research Project, located at the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs at the University of Ottawa, and directed by Professor Wesley Wark, a Visiting Research Professor at the Graduate School.

The National Security Research Project will organise and host a series of public workshops in 2011-2012 devoted to a study of key issues in the changing security and policy environment in Canada since the 9/11 attacks.

The first of these workshops will address the fast evolving nature of Canada’s foreign intelligence needs. The workshop is open to the media and public.

The Challenges of National Security Accountability

The National Security Research Project, in conjunction with the Centre for International Policy Studies, will organise and host a series of panel discussions in 2011-2012 devoted to a study of key issues in the changing security and policy environment in Canada since the 9/11 attacks.

This panel will address the democratic challenges inherent in maintaining accountability of the operations of Canada’s national security agencies, including the Canadian Security Intelligence Service. The workshop is open to the public.
